Story

Landmark Training Development Company is a multi-faceted non-profit organization whose ultimate goal revolves around creating economically sustainable communities for families in the Mid-South area.

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, we believe in supporting local farmers, cultivating a healthy environment, and educating others on the value of organic produce.

We operate the Landmark Farmer’s Market, a year-round indoor market along with a food pantry and the Landmark Gardens.

Landmark Training strives to help youth develop job skills, positive social habits, and self-sufficient attitudes as they navigate throughout this society.

Meet the Founders

Mike and Karen Minnis believe in gardening with a mission. The couple runs the Landmark Training Development Company on Carnes Avenue, just off Airways in the Orange Mound area. What you’ll find after encountering the couple is not just the wonderful provision of food, but wisdom and actionable tips to improve your life. With Mike Minnis at the helm, Landmark Training is able to operate a farmer’s market, food pantry, urban outreach center, and other advocacy programs. The Minnis family runs a two-acre farm in inner-city Memphis, which was inspired by their son. Despite all of the obstacles that can arise with developing a farm in an urban area, the founder and Landmark Training staff were up to the challenge. Their hard work earned them the top prize at Tennessee’s Small Farm Expo.
